Privacy Policy
Version 2 · updated 7/30/2026
1. Introduction
This Privacy Policy explains what personal data Zayd collects when you use the Zayd customer app, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. We collect the minimum data needed to run a delivery, shopping and ride marketplace.
2. Data we collect
- Account data — your name, phone number, email address (if you sign in with email) and preferred language.
- Delivery data — the delivery addresses you save or enter, and notes you attach to orders.
- Order data — the items you order, order history, ratings and reviews you leave.
- Payment data — the payment proof screenshots you upload for bank-transfer verification. We do not collect or store card numbers.
- Location data — the approximate and precise location you share when picking a delivery address on the map or using live order tracking. Saved and entered delivery addresses include exact map coordinates so couriers can find you.
- Identity-verification data — for certain features (such as paying after delivery, or booking intercity travel) we collect your identity-document type, ID number, and photos of your ID, to confirm your identity. This is used only for verification, fraud prevention, and where required by law.
- Usage & diagnostics data — how you interact with the app (screens viewed, features used) and crash and performance reports, collected via Google Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics along with device identifiers, to keep the app stable and improve it.
- Device data — device model, operating system version, app version and a push-notification token, used to run the app and send order updates.
3. How we use your data
- To create and manage your account and authenticate you.
- To process orders, arrange delivery, and verify bank-transfer payments.
- To verify your identity where required for certain payment or travel features.
- To send you order status notifications.
- To provide customer support and investigate complaints.
- To prevent fraud and enforce our Terms & Conditions.
- To improve the Service using aggregated, non-identifying statistics.
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.
4. Who we share data with
- Vendors see your first name, your order contents and your delivery area so they can prepare the order.
- Couriers/drivers see your name, phone number and delivery address so they can complete the delivery.
- Service providers — our backend is hosted on Supabase; data is stored on their infrastructure and encrypted in transit.
- Payment providers — when you pay online, your payment is processed by Chapa. Card details are entered on Chapa's secure page and are never seen or stored by Zayd.
- Google (Firebase) — we use Google Firebase for analytics, crash reporting, and push notifications; limited usage and device data is processed by Google as our service provider.
- Authorities — only where Ethiopian law requires it.
5. Data retention
- Account data is kept while your account is active.
- Order and payment records are kept as long as required for accounting and dispute resolution.
- If you delete your account, your personal data is deleted; where order records must be retained by law, they are anonymized so they no longer identify you.
6. Your rights
- Access & correction — view and edit your profile data in the app under Profile → Account Info.
- Deletion — delete your account in the app under Profile → Delete account, or contact support.
- Notifications — you can disable push notifications in your device settings.
7. Security
Data is transmitted over encrypted connections (TLS) and access is restricted by row-level security rules so that each user, vendor and courier can only see the data they need.
8. Children
The Service is not directed at children under 18, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. The current version, with its effective date, is always available in the app and on our website. Material changes will be announced in the app.
10. Contact
For privacy questions or requests, reach us through the support contacts listed in the app's Profile section.
